After six months of waiting for Subaru to finish the hands‑free driving software for my 2026 Touring XT, I finally got the dealer update installed—and today I took it for its first real test on Oregon’s I‑5.

It was worth every bit of the wait.

The system handled lane‑keeping with smooth precision, and the active lane‑changing felt confident and natural. Watching the car read traffic, signal, and shift lanes on its own was surreal at first, then genuinely impressive. Before long, I found myself relaxing into the drive and just enjoying the experience.

Hands‑free driving isn’t just a tech demo anymore. Subaru made it feel like a real part of the car.
