Cape Perpetua and Amanda's trails

There are places you can visit a hundred times and still feel that pull — that quiet little voice saying take one more photo, stay one more minute. Cape Perpetua is one of those places for me.

I hiked up the Cape Perpetua trail again, climbing through the deep green forest until the trees opened and the whole coastline unfolded beneath me. No matter how many times I reach that viewpoint, I can’t resist pulling out my camera. The ocean, the cliffs, the way the light hits the water — it’s impossible to walk past without capturing a few more shots. It’s like the landscape changes just enough each time to make the moment feel new.

Instead of looping back the same way, I dropped down toward Yachats using Amanda’s Trail. It’s quieter there, less crowded, and the forest feels more intimate. The trail winds gently, giving you glimpses of the ocean as you descend. By the time you reach Yachats, you’ve earned something cold and sweet — and yes, ice cream tastes way better after a sweaty hike.

I finished the day flying my drone over the Yachats shoreline. The waves were rolling in slow and steady, the rocks catching the late light, and the whole coastline looked like it was breathing. From above, Yachats feels even smaller, calmer, almost tucked into the edge of the world.

Another hike, another set of photos, another perfect day on the Oregon Coast — and I already know I’ll be back at Cape Perpetua again. Some places just don’t get old.
